I don’t like the new rating system at all.
First, people who don’t own the game can rate it, which is a huge problem that doesn’t exist on PlayStation or Steam. Second, unreleased games with preorders (e.g. Eternal Life of Goldman) can be rated, which makes even less sense.
I agree. With how the recommendations are set up, I’ve given hundreds of games 1 stars to help better curate that section. Most of these are games I’ve never played, but know I’m not interested in them. I can’t be the only one who’s done this. Also, it’s frustrating to see 1 stars on games that are in development, but have been released. It’s a flawed system and I’m using Deku a lot less, lately.
People are also rating games based on other platforms, which defeats the purpose of Deku Deals as a Switch price tracker to me. A popular game with a poor Switch port will still be rated high. I don’t put much value in Metacritic scores either, but at least it is not as prominent as the star ratings. I’ve hidden the stars on each game page (.js-star-histogram-trigger) using uBlock Origin.
