Hide shovelware button

A button that will hide all or most shovel ware games and publishers in a single click.

What’s the criteria for shovelware?

I’ve created a browser script that can do that:

• install the “Greasemonkey” browser add-on: tampermonkey.net
• install the “Better Dekudeal” script: https://gist.githubusercontent.com/cosmo0/1154d158f9dc1f3b7f5fe841079b0cf0/raw/dekudeals.user.js

You now have a “hide all on current page” button at the top of a list. Just open a publisher and hide everything.

we need a solution from dekudeals.com not browser add-on which wont work on mobile browsers

This could only work with publishers known for shovelware, but even then, they get around it by publishing under a different name once people start catching on.

I’ve noticed that most showeware either doesn’t have metacritic ratings or have a very low rating, which can also be an additional metric for deciding if the game should be hidden. Same thing with HowLongToBeat - nobody actually plays and reports their playtime on these games.

I think having a “Showelware” on a game page can help with this.

On top of that we can have a list of know low quality publishers/developers as well as list of legit ones.

All of these (and maybe more) things combined can help calculate the games rating. If it’s below a certain threshold - hide it from the home page/certain sections, so if someone still wants it (false positive) they can still find it and track it’s price.

So for example a game can have a base 100 points.

Showelware:
-20 for not having metacritic
-20 for not having HowLongToBeat
-20 for being in a publisher list
-10 for having a lot (let’s say 100+) “Showelware” button clicks

Total - 30 points

Legit game:
-10 points for low metacritic (GTA Trilogy is 1.2 for example)
-10 points for having “Showelware” clicks (bot, haters, etc)
(if it’s on the list of know developers/publishers +20 points for high quality publisher)

Total: 80-100 points

If it’s a new game, maybe it won’t have Metacritic and HowLongToBeat, so it will have 60 points.

Now we set the threshold to 40 points and this way we can remove the vast majority of low quality/effort, ai slop, mobile games etc etc.
