More / Better Genres

The current genres on Deku Deals could be improved. Some are applied too broadly while others like Roguelikes or Action RPGs are missing entirely.

yes!! otome is also a genre that would be great to have

i’d love a narrative tag for visual novels/story-centric games. horror and comedy tags would also be nice

Also tags like metroidvania, first-person…

The issue with this is it’s not Deku Deals being the vague ones, they’re getting their information from stores and the console developer’s stores.

It would also be great to have a 3D / 2D genre. There are so many 2D games and it would be nice to more easily search for the few 3D ones

I’m going to add to this list, adding a filter to not show first person, or a caution icon for those who are prone to motion sickness. It really sucks when I want to check out a trailer and the video plays in FP and then it triggers my sickness.

My idea is user created playlists ala Spotify.

This mostly stems from there lots of 1-bit game, yet there is no category for those games. (Even though it’s a genre!)

I would like to categories like NES inspired games, games based off cartoons, Handheld Only games, gallery shooters, Genesis/Sega games, single screen (arcade style) games.

There are so MANY missing categories!
